Online support for bi, gay & trans women with cancer
This week in support of National Lesbian and Bisexual Women’s Health Week, and in recognition of the needs of LGBTQ women, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust have opened a new dedicated section of their online forum.
Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust are the only UK charity dedicated to supporting women affected by cervical cancer and cervical abnormalities.
They say: “This section of our forum has been set up to provide a safe and supportive environment where members of the LGBTQ community can talk openly about any concerns or issues they may have relating to cervical screening, screening results, and cervical cancer.
“There is a concerning story from BBC News saying that LGBTQ women are wrongly told that they do not need to a smear test.
“We are hoping that through the use of this forum we are able to better support women from the LGBTQ community with health inequalities and discrimination they may be experiencing regarding cervical screening and cancer treatment.”
