New book explores bi Britain
“Bisexuality: Identities, Politics, and Theories” is a new book by Surya Monro of BiUK.
It maps the UK bi scene / movement: what and where it is, who it includes and who it leaves behind.
It explores topical themes, including sex and relationships, community, the commodification of bisexuality, and activism. The book also shows how understandings of bisexuality can usefully inform the social sciences in areas such as identity construction, social inequalities, postcolonial relations, and citizenship.
It’s a fascinating read especially for anyone doing research work in and around the bi community in the UK.
At £60 it’s a pricy tome, but an ideal text to encourage local universities to buy for their library in order to improve the quality of MA and PhD theses and other bi related research.
